Book Review: The Dawn of Wonder
Review: The Dawn of Wonder Minor spoilers included. The Dawn of Wonder by Johnathan Renshaw is a complex narrative about a boy, Aedan, who moves away from his childhood home after losing his childhood friend, Kalry, to kidnappers. Aedan ventures to the city of Castah, with his parents. The book consists of the episodic adventures Aedan goes on. The Dawn of Wonder is the first of four books Renshaw has written for this series. The latter books are currently a work in progress, according to Renshaw. One of the strong suits of this narrative was the character building. Aedan goes through a series of traumatic events balanced well enough to flesh out his character. Aedan starts as a sweet, caring boy but slowly progresses to someone who is broken and hurt. His internal struggles and desire for acceptance play a vital role in the plot and the eventual revelation he comes to by the end. However, the book's pacing is something that some readers may struggle with. Due
